Richard Nagy has been dealing independently since 1980. He started the Dover Street Gallery in 1989.
Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt have been a speciality since 1984. Richard Nagy also handles work of the German Expressionists particularly of the Neue Sachlichkeit and artists of a related sensibility (Spencer, Bacon and Freud). Less obviously related artists in stock are Symbolists (Redon, Khnopff) and works by the artists of the accepted canon of modernism, (Picasso, Matisse) et cetera.
Nagy has exhibited Egon Schiele in Sydney, Australia in 1988 and 1990, in London in 1993,and 1998. In July 2000 an Egon Schiele exhibition of watercolours and drawings, was presented in Paris (the first commercial exhibition there since 1976), which then travelled to Brussels.
Richard Nagy exhibited at the International Fine Art Fair in New York from 1998-2004 and at TEFAF in Maastricht 2001-2008, as well as at fairs in Salzburg, Vienna, Paris, Milan and Sydney. The gallery exhibited at Art Basel in the years 2005-2008.
Richard Nagy has collaborated with Yves Macaux (Wiener Werkstatte furniture gallery) at Paris Biennale 2006 and 2008, New York Design Fair at the Armory 2005-2007.
